Slumlords?

Are the Davis Family and Tyler Keene “slumlords” an essay with defintions

First let us look at the defintion of a slumlord

A slumlord (or slum landlord) is a slang term for a landlord, generally an absentee landlord with more than one property, who attempts to maximize profit by minimizing spending on property maintenance, and to tenants that they can intimidate. Severe housing shortages allow slumlords to charge higher rents, and when they can get away with it, to break rental laws.[1][2]

And let’s compare some facts

Two years without maintainence, to the point of forcing tenants to remove and dispose of their own damaged carpet after their basement flooded

agreement from former property manager that the Davis family refused routine maintainence

insistence that all monies and records of deposists were stolen by a former property manager despite those deposits being collected prior to purchase and records and money being turned over required by law

new lease terms stating that all maintainence can only be performed by owner’s approved contractors and only when conveneint for owners

new lease stating that replacement of malfunctioning appliances included with apartment is at the owners discretion

despite zero maintainence rental rates have been raised roughly 30% to cover ‘costs’

so

Violation of the law check

decaying apartments check

profiteering check

intimidate tenants (see posts about Tyler threatening to evict for complaining or wanting to contact owners)

They do sure seem to fit the bill

And in a late breaking update I have been informed Tyler Keene has sent a text to some tenants insisting they either defraud Venmo, Cashapp and the like by misclassifying payments or cover the credit card processing fee, a fee that every business that accepts credit cards pays.
